Ultrasonic, wireless heating oil level sensor

EcoMeter is an innovative, ultrasonic level sensor and energy consumption monitor designed specifically for heating oil tanks in private use. EcoMeter is modern and an accurate alternative to mechanical dipsticks and other mechanical devices. EcoMeter can be used with tanks up to 5300 Gallons and 10ft height. EcoMeter has already been sold in more than 1 million times throughout Europe.

EcoMeter consists of a transmitter and a receiver unit. The transmitter, also called sensor, monitors the level of liquid in the tank as well as the cost, consumption and the CO2 emissions.

It is supplied with a CR2450 lithium battery, which under normal operating conditions provides a lifetime of 2-3 years.

The transmitter sends data wirelessly to a main electricity powered receiver, EcoMeter monitor equipped with a large LCD display.

Optional antenna extension (EcoMeter PLUS)

An additional cable with a length of about 30ft between the sensor and wireless module allows you to install the sensor in underground tanks and cisterns, manway opening or hard to access and radio dead areas (e.g. behind thick walls, heavy lids or shafts/manway openings at depths greater than 8" below ground level). It also allows for the installation of the sensor in the radio dead areas, thereby extending the effective working range of the monitor. EcoMeter PLUS is thus able to provide a stable connection between the sensor and monitor at depths in excess of 8" and in places covered with heavy metal or concrete covers blocking the radio signal.

Easy 6-Step-Installation

Installation Notes

  • To ensure optimum working conditions, make sure that the Proteus EcoMeter sensor has been installed at a suitable distance from tank walls and obstacles inside tank of at least 6" in order to avoid distortion of the ultrasonic signal.
  • The maximum measurable volume of the tank is 5300 Gallons.
  • The sensor must be mounted directly on the tank cap or the fuel filler cap and must not be mounted on flange longer than 8/10". If possible, remove the nozzle and attach the sensor directly into the threaded opening.
  • Please specify the distance between the sensor opening/membrane and bottom of the tank (= height).
  • Maximum range is 10ft, the ultrasonic sensor can take readings only within this area.
  • Please be aware that some heating oil tanks have certifications, so any modifications (eg. drilling) can be undertaken only by professional staff with relevant license. These objections do not apply to water tanks and cisterns. Please keep all possible implications in mind.
  • The optional antenna extension cable (approximately 30ft between sensor and transmitter) can be separated (at the user's own risk, the guarantee does not cover modified cable).
  • For sensor installed deeper than 8" in the tank or below ground level, the antenna extension (EcoMeter PLUS) must be used.
